Remember Tranzor Z ? This was a very popular Anime piece in Japan known as Mazinger Z. When this cartoon was shown in syndication
here in the US they ran into many problems due to the perverted content of this show. Why they even bothered to have those
kinds of elements in a cartoon that obviously was not geared towards old folks, I'll never know. You get a lot of that in
the anime genre.
This show was broadcast throughout the Chicago area on WPWR channel 60, then channel 50 when WPWR switched stations decades
before their UPN affiliation. We here at the CCFK remember seeing the gigantic robot when he was called Mazinga as part of
the Shogun Warriors gimmick. Check out the big-ass pic above for a nice trip down memory lane. You'll have to scroll around though. It's a pretty big

The Shogun Warriors had a very successful toy line in the 1970's. They also had a Marvel Comic Book Series that was ill-fated.
Thus, the franchise is....you guessed it...DEAD ! |
